Lucy Irwin, AIA
Consulting Architect, Lucy Irwin Architecture
Lucy Irwin, AIA, is an architect returning to the profession after 20 years of parenting and extensive community service in San Francisco. She and her husband raised three children in the city. Ms. Irwin received her BA from Dartmouth College, and Master of Architecture from Yale School of Architecture. As a service leader and advocate, she coordinated St. Ignatius College Prep’s inaugural Reunion of the Black Student Union, developed community building programs in both public and private schools and facilitated mission statement development for nonprofit organizations. Her architectural experience is in both large offices - HOK in St. Louis and under Phil Freelon, FAIA, in North Carolina - and smaller offices, including Beverly Willis Architects and Butler Armsden Architects. Her interests include printmaking, book clubs, yoga and hiking. Ms. Irwin looks forward to sharing an extensive list of resources for relaunching a career in architecture.
Jaya Kader, AIA, LEED AP
Principal, KZ Architecture
Jaya Kader is a registered architect in Florida and the founder and principal of KZ architecture, a Miami-based practice founded in 2003. The firm is committed to design excellence and sustainable building practices, with a focus on custom home residential design and a philosophy rooted in context, and purpose. Born and raised in San Jose, Costa Rica, Jaya spent 15 years in Boston before moving to Miami, Florida. Prior to KZA Jaya worked for Moshe Safdie and Associates and Graham Gund Architects. Upon moving to Miami, she led a team headed by Robert A M Stern of New York to win the competition for the Miami Beach Library, for which she was the project architect through its completion. Jaya is a member of the AIA Committee on Design Advisory Group and chairs its sponsorship committee. She is also involved with Women in Design initiatives, including Women in Architecture and Equity by Design.
