Principal Consultant, Cameron MacAllister Group

Saskia’s love of design and the people who practice it drive her work. Applying highly strategic thinking and her knowledge of the design industry, she helps clients improve their competitive messaging and compete successfully for projects. Her clients rely on her intent listening and honest counsel. Passionate about supporting the role of women in the workplace, Saskia has channeled her beliefs into diversity consulting, helping firms better understand their challenges and opportunities in those areas. This focus carries over into her work with the AIA San Francisco’s Equity by Design Committee for which she is an active spokesperson. Saskia also works with clients—often on an ongoing basis—on strategic marketing planning, positioning, and marketing assessments, as well as retreat and planning-meeting facilitation. Saskia lives in Portland and is building a house in the Columbia River Gorge, strategically located within hiking distance of the Pacific Crest Trail.

Architect, Wilson Associates

Julia is an experienced architect and planner with broad project experience in architecture, urban design, and landscape design. Currently designer and project manager at Wilson Associates, a design/build/development firm in Oakland, Julia’s recent work focuses on innovative commercial and residential projects that serve as urban catalysts. Julia is also very involved with AIASF’s Equity by Design, serving as the group’s 2016 Symposium Chair. Previously, Julia worked for four years with SWA Group on large-scale urban design and landscape work in China and Houston, Texas. She received her Master of Architecture from Rice University and her Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Columbia University.

Bohlin Cywinski Jackson

Annelise Pitts is a designer with Bohlin Cywinski Jackson in San Francisco, CA. In her design work, she has collaborated with clients and interdisciplinary design teams on programmatically complex design and planning projects. Recent projects include the UC Davis Large Lecture Hall, and campus planning for Dominican University of California.  As a member of the Equity by Design core team, and the group’s current research chair, she is responsible for the development and oversight of the Equity in Architecture Research Project. She looks forward to sharing the results of the 2016 survey at this year’s symposium. Annelise spends her time outside of work exploring California’s ski mountains, running and hiking trails, and traveling with her husband.

Consulting Architect, Lucy Irwin Architecture

Lucy Irwin, AIA, is an architect returning to the profession after 20 years of parenting and extensive community service in San Francisco.  She and her husband raised three children in the city. Ms. Irwin received her BA from Dartmouth College, and Master of Architecture from Yale School of Architecture. As a service leader and advocate, she coordinated St. Ignatius College Prep’s inaugural Reunion of the Black Student Union, developed community building programs in both public and private schools and facilitated mission statement development for nonprofit organizations. Her architectural experience is in both large offices - HOK in St. Louis and under Phil Freelon, FAIA, in North Carolina - and smaller offices, including Beverly Willis Architects and Butler Armsden Architects. Her interests include printmaking, book clubs, yoga and hiking. Ms. Irwin looks forward to sharing an extensive list of resources for relaunching a career in architecture.

Principal, KZ Architecture

Jaya Kader is a registered architect in Florida and the founder and principal of KZ architecture, a Miami-based practice founded in 2003. The firm is committed to design excellence and sustainable building practices, with a focus on custom home residential design and a philosophy rooted in context, and purpose.  Born and raised in San Jose, Costa Rica, Jaya spent 15 years in Boston before moving to Miami, Florida. Prior to KZA Jaya worked for Moshe Safdie and Associates and Graham Gund Architects. Upon moving to Miami, she led a team headed by Robert A M Stern of New York to win the competition for the Miami Beach Library, for which she was the project architect through its completion. Jaya is a member of the AIA Committee on Design Advisory Group and chairs its sponsorship committee. She is also involved with Women in Design initiatives, including Women in Architecture and Equity by Design.
